Sources & method
Every sheet in this archive points back to the public collection that holds the original, and to the editorial method behind ARCHIV.
01
Method
An archive built on public collections
ARCHIV gathers documented works, museum-grade reading and institutional sources. Editorial texts are written for the archive; images are reproduced from the public domain where indicated, with each work credited to the collection that conserves it.
Documented works
Each sheet carries its date, medium, dimensions and the public collection that conserves the original.
Editorial reading
Texts are written for the archive — a considered reading of each work, not aggregated captions.
Open-access images
Reproductions are public-domain files (Wikimedia Commons and institutional open content), credited to the holding museum.
